Yes. On our flexible rate you can cancel free of charge within 14 days of booking for a full refund. After that you lose your deposit, and from the balance due date, 4 weeks before arrival, the booking is non-refundable. If you book within 4 weeks of arrival you pay in full and the free-cancellation window is 48 hours instead of 14 days. Our discounted non-refundable rate cannot be cancelled for a refund at any point. Full details are on our booking terms page.

Check-in is from 4pm and check-out is by 10am, so we have time to turn the house around between guests.

The house sleeps eight in four bedrooms (a kingsize, two doubles and a twin), each with its own bathroom. A travel cot and a high chair are provided free of charge; just mention them when you book.

Yes. Bartley House has a private off-street space behind the house, big enough for one large car. For any other cars we leave visitor parking scratch cards, which let you park on the surrounding streets for free. If you’re bringing more than one extra car, let us know so we leave enough cards.

Yes, dogs are welcome at Bartley House at no extra charge. Just let us know you’re bringing one when you book so we can have things ready. West Cliff Beach, ten minutes’ walk away, is dog-friendly from October to April, and plenty of Whitby’s pubs and cafés welcome dogs year-round. We ask that dogs stay off the furniture and aren’t left in the house alone.

Fast enough for video calls, streaming and a remote-working day if you need one. Full-fibre runs into the house and there’s strong coverage on every floor.
